Micro Gas Turbine Lab
- Production
The UMONS Micro-gAsturbine Research Centre – UMARC is driving the energy transition with efficient, flexible, and low-carbon gas turbines for decentralized systems. It is a lab dedicated to research on micro gas turbines, including active and passive exhaust gas recirculation, combined heat and power production and conventional and clean energy fuels. The 4 key research axes are:
- Combustion & Emissions: low-NOx combustion, exhaust gas recirculation and advanced diagnositcs
- Sustainable fuels, including hydrogen, biogas and synthetic fuels
- Hybridization, including SOFC-mGT cycles, combined heat and power and integrated Brayton systems
- Carbon Mitigation: CO2 capture and reduction and energy efficiency strategies.
The lab is composed of 4 mGTs (3kWe MTT Enertwin, 20kWe Mitis Micro-20, 12kWe Bladon and 100kWe AE-T100), each with their own specificities and all equipped and converted to perform cutting edge research.
