The surface treatment lines of the Materials R&D Center Materia Nova integrate all stages of the process, from substrate preparation and functionalization through to deposition, post-treatment, and integration into electrocatalytic systems. The entire setup is automated and managed via centralized control. Various deposition chemistries and electrochemical configurations are incorporated to optimize electrode selectivity and efficiency for the conversion of specific molecules (e.g., nitrogen-containing species).

Beyond electrode fabrication, the laboratory is equipped with advanced electrochemical, structural, and morphological characterization tools, enabling the correlation of deposit composition and structure with catalytic performance under realistic nitrogen-containing water treatment conditions. This integrated approach facilitates technology transfer toward industrial applications in water treatment and nitrogen compound valorization.
