Test Bench for Thermal Energy Production, Storage and Emission - C3E2D
- Transversal
Funded by the ERDF and supported by UMONS, C3E2D (for «Centre of Excellence in Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development») is a research infrastructure (test bench) which aims at testing equipment and prototypes for thermal energy production, storage and emission. It is located in the Zenobe Gramme Building (CampusUCharleroi). By making these infrastructures available to research teams and companies, the ambition is to create an ecosystem that promotes innovation in energy efficiency by bringing together a series of high-level partners carrying out complementary activities.
The test bench is composed of
- Heat and cold production devices (boilers and refrigeration machine).
- 3 water tanks (low, medium and high temperatures).
- Water piping (low, medium and high temperatures).
- Connection devices for connecting the equipment to be tested to water pipes and allowing the control of inlet boundary conditions (test conditions) in terms of temperature and flow rate.
- Two air handling units connected to water tanks (low and high temperatures) for conditioned (temperature and relative humidity) air preparation.
- Two climatic chambers.
