The UMONS Thermodynamics Department developed a global expertise in CO₂ capture, purification, transport, utilization and storage (CCUS) chain. In terms of CO₂ capture by adsorption, the department has developed a versatile VPSA pilot consisting of three 1.1-liter columns (TRL 4-5) capable to mimic all the two- or three-column various stages of a (V)PSA cycles. A TSA pilot is also available. Moreover, the team has a strong expertise in adsorption process simulation based on experimental measurements (thermodynamic and kinetic). Validation of the simulations can be performed by comparison with results on VPSA/TSA pilot and then used to extrapolate the process performance at industrial scale.
