Ecotoxicology and Aquaculture platform
- Natural ressources
The Ecotoxicology and Aquaculture Platform is a multidisciplinary research facility dedicated to studying the effects of chemical, pharmaceutical, and nutritional substances on aquatic organisms. It enables a wide range of experiments, including ecotoxicological assessments, bacterial challenge tests, immunological studies, and the evaluation of new aquaculture feed formulations. The platform also supports behavioral analyses, as well as physiological, biochemical, molecular, genetic, and epigenetic measurements on various aquatic species.
The infrastructure includes specialized areas for both breeding and experimentation, along with laboratories for cell culture testing aimed at reducing the need for animal experimentation. It is equipped with advanced systems such as static and recirculating rearing units, aquariums of various sizes, and dedicated ecotoxicology setups. Researchers benefit from high-performance equipment including incubators, sterilization systems, behavioral analysis units, microscopes, spectrophotometers, and deep freezers.
Additional features such as infrared cameras, respirometers, swim tunnels, and temperature-controlled tanks allow precise monitoring of organism responses. The presence of purified and ultra-pure water systems further ensures optimal experimental conditions, making the platform a key asset for innovation in aquatic research and sustainable aquaculture development.
